JOURNALING

As we read God’s word we learn about who God is, His heart and love for us. Journaling is a way to process what God has spoken to us through His word. We can reflect on different lessons that we learn through our reading. Without a plan it will be harder to make this a daily part of life. Grab your bible, a pen/pencil, a journal and set a time within your schedule daily where you can focus on what you are reading. The time and place may look different for everyone, but it is important that we make this daily choice to allow God’s word to change the way we think and the way we live.

How to Journal:

Scripture
Open your Bible to the reading for the day. Take time reading and allow God to speak to you. When you are done, choose what stood out to you the verse that day and write it down.

Observation
What do you think God is saying to you in this scripture? Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and reveal Jesus to you.

Application
Personalize what you have read, by asking yourself how it applies to your life right now. Perhaps it is instruction, encouragement, revelation of a new promise, or corrections for a particular area of your life. Write how this scripture can apply to you today.

Prayer
This can be as simple as asking God to help you use this scripture, or even a prayer for greater insight on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say!
