Knowing God — New Life Oxnard

Faith & Salvation

Knowing
God

Saying YES to Jesus is the best decision you will ever make. Not only does it affect your life now, but it affects your life forever. We hope that you find this information helpful.

01

The Foundation

the beginning

God originally intended to have a close, personal relationship with mankind. From the very start, He desired fellowship — not distance. Adam and Eve walked with God and knew His presence in a real and intimate way.

But they chose to act independently of God, and in doing so, they broke that relationship. This break is what Scripture calls sin — rebellion against God's will — and its effects have carried through every generation since.

Scripture

Genesis 1:26–27  ·  Romans 3:23  ·  Romans 6:23

02

The Human Condition

the problem

Sin has separated every one of us from God. It is not merely a mistake or a bad habit — it is a broken relationship that we are powerless to repair on our own. No amount of good deeds, religious effort, or moral living can bridge the gap between a holy God and a sinful humanity.

God is perfect and just, and His standard is perfection. Without a solution, we are left separated from Him — now and forever.

Scripture

Isaiah 59:2  ·  Romans 5:12  ·  Ephesians 2:1–3

03

God's Answer

the solution

God did not leave us without hope. He responded to our brokenness by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die in our place. Jesus — fully God and fully man — lived the sinless life we could never live, and died the death we deserved.

His sacrifice is the bridge. Through Jesus, the relationship God always intended is fully restored. Salvation is not something we earn; it is a gift, freely given by grace, and made available to anyone who will receive it.

Scripture

John 3:16  ·  Romans 5:8  ·  2 Corinthians 5:21  ·  Ephesians 2:8–9

Your Response

four steps to knowing god

Receiving this gift is personal. It begins with a decision — a turning of your heart toward God. Here are four steps that mark that journey.

  • Step 01

    Realize

Acknowledge that sin has separated you from God and that you need His forgiveness. Honest self-awareness is where it starts.
  • Step 02

    Believe

Trust that Jesus Christ died for your sins, rose from the dead on the third day, and is alive today. This is the heart of the Gospel.
  • Step 03

    Accept

Receive salvation as a gift — not something earned or deserved. God offers it freely; you simply open your hands and take it.
  • Step 04

    Invite

Ask Jesus to be the Lord of your life. Surrender your plans, your future, and yourself to Him — and begin life as He designed it.

Scripture

1 John 1:9  ·  Acts 16:31  ·  Romans 10:9–10  ·  John 1:12

05

A Prayer of Commitment

a prayer

If you are ready to take this step, you can pray something like this. The words matter less than the sincerity of your heart.

Dear Heavenly Father, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now confess you by faith as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Scripture

Romans 10:13  ·  1 John 1:9  ·  Acts 2:21

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." — 1 John 1:9
